Background:
|
At its June 24, 2021 meeting, the Milwaukee Board of School Directors referred Resolution 2122R-006 by Director Carr to the Accountability, Finance, and Personnel Committee. The resolution is in regards to instituting Juneteenth Day as an official holiday within Milwaukee Public Schools. Furthermore, the resolution calls for Juneteenth to be a paid day off, structured in the same manner as all other paid holidays currently recognized by the district. The Administration is in agreement with the resolution, and is recommending its adoption.

Fiscal Impact Statement:

This item does not authorize expenditures. Any costs associated with implementing the resolution will be brought before the Board for approval as part of the October budget adjustments.

Implementation and Assessment Plan
:
|
Upon approval by the Board, the Administration will take the necessary steps to establish Juneteenth Day as an official holiday within Milwaukee Public Schools.

Recommendation:
|
The Administration Recommends that the Board approve Resolution 2122R-006 by Director Carr regarding Juneteenth Day as attached.
